Keeping Zippers "Zippy"???

Between soft-sided tackle boxes and a couple different splash jackets and raincoats I wear kayaking/fishing, I have several zippers that aren’t as zippy as they once were. What do y’all use on zippers exposed to salt air/water to keep them functioning? I try to rinse off tackle bags but recently had to trash one as the zipper would no longer function.

Thanks.

I put some Penn Reel grease on them when I’m servicing reels. Any kind of good grease seems to work well for me.

Rub a wax candle or bar of soap on both sides of the zipper, then run it up and down. You can also use reel grease, WD40, even Chapstick works in a pinch.

Mr.Zoggs sex wax…aka surfboard wax.

white lithium Grease, West Marine sells it as a snap and zipper grease.

Chap Stick, works for a certain crowd! I much prefer Lip Stick:kissing_closed_eyes::smiley:

Any dive shop has zipper wax. My drysuit zipper has to stay waxed or it tears up.

If they seize up, I spray WD, let it sit and then carefully use pliers to get it started.

Narcosis

Heavy duty silicone spray. Waterproof and keeps it slick.
