Key Largo trip

Taking the wife and kids and going with parents and their friends to Key Largo Dec 27 for 8 days. Staying @ Anchorage Resort and Yacht Club and keeping the boat in the water. Will anyone with experience please shed light on anything I should know. I’ve heard their are certain reefs where you can and cannot anchor up and fish. Also, how’s the troll that time of year and is it worth it to bring the big gear? If you have any numbers for down there for bottom fishing and are willing to share (promise I will only fish them max once a year :sunglasses: ) that would be fantastic!

THANKS!!!

Yeah, that place is full of “Marine Sanctuaries”… You can probably get some maps from the local shops when you are there, but they don’t play in Florida. There is about a 108% chance you will see law enforcement on the water down there (at least from a distance).

Owned a house in Islamorada for a number of years.

World Wide Sportsman or Yellow Bait House in Key Largo should have all you need. Hot Spots Charts and others available there should clearly mark the restricted areas. Yellow buoys mark the no fish areas & white buoys are to tie up to.

The patch reefs off Key Largo are very abundant & should be good. Don’t know about trolling. There may be a lot of wind out N-NE, but pick your days. On windy days there is good bottom fishing around bridges & FL Bay.

PM me if you would like any additional.

I am looking hard at your identical rig for trailering to Keys from BFT. Will be really interested in your experiences with this boat.
