Heading there 7/16-7/23. Hoping to troll a lot. Got plugs, chuggers, x-raps and yozuri bonitas. Should we fish out of Key Largo or head south?

Go to the outer banks. People aren’t as wierd and the fishing is better.
Another trip for another day Redstripe.
Weird people are everywhere. I guess by weird you mean you mean people can be who they want without being ridiculed. Anyway, back to the topic. I would fish in key largo. Less crowded. Pink and blue and white. Try to pick up some of the small black worms. They work. Trolling is good right now. I’ve got a buddy down right now. He’s been out twice. Both times scored dolphin and blackfin. Get out early and run to some of the offshore jumps.
When I was down there a few weeks ago we didnt find dolphin until about 1100ft
Look at where Jesus went to pick people. He didn’t go to the colleges; he got guys off the fishing docks.
The people are indeed “eclectic” in the Keys. In fact most of Florida seems to be anymore. We’re on the west coast right now and…

I would go so far as to say many of the service employees, at least the ones I have met are plain rude. It’s a beautiful place and all, but it’s not what it used to be.
No way I would be trolling in the keys… Snorkeling\freediving\spearing\fishing on the reefs is more fun down there…
I’m with skinnee, went down for years to troll for dolphin and blackfin, and some reef fishing on the way in. During the summer. I never bothered to get in the water. Since I’ve been taking my family down things have changed. I should of been swimming all along. Go snorkeling. Find a sand bar. When my kids were younger we would snorkel over the grass flats on the gulf side. When we go down we spend lots of time in the water. If we go offshore we get up early. Back for a late lunch and pic upthe family and water toys. Not much coral on the gulf but still tons of life on the grass. Spearing would be my choice now. No real need to go deeper then 25’.
