I am going to be in Key West in early August, and looking for a good flats or back country charter. Any recommendations are appreciated.
BEWARE’!!! There are some real ripoff guides in Key West! Book with a good outfitter like The Angling Company or World Angling. Do not hire a bargain guide…there is a reason why they are a bargain…take it from me, it’s not worth it.
When I fish Key West I fish with Captain Mitchell Dugger. Mitchell will work hard to give you shots at your targeted fish. He put me on my first permit. I had lots of shots at permit. We also had shots at tarpon and bonefish. In August there will be more permit than any other gamefish on the flats. Mitchell’s contact info is 305-395-0577 & dugger34@aol.com.
Have a great trip.

I’ve had good luck walking the docks in the evening and talking with the captains as they come back in. The last time I did that many had chalkboards in front of their slips with their availability for the week written on them. As I have stated in someone else’s post re this. Do not book through those little huts that you will see around that broker charter trips, sailing, para-sailing…etc They will tell you anything to make the sale, I did this once and will not be making that mistake again.
