Key West or Bahamas?

I am going on a cruise with my family in the middle of June that will make stops in Key West and Nassau. I’m pretty new to fly fishing and don’t have a specific species I am targeting. If you had to pick just one, where would you go?

I’d probably pick Nassau. You could always drive down to key west.

I have nothing to add on which place, but I would say to pay close attention to the times that you will be in port. If it says you get to the port at 9am, that does not mean you will get off the boat at 9.

I have been on a similar cruise and we were in KW early morning to ~3pm.

Good point b8, the itinerary says we will be docked in Nassau from 8 AM till midnight and docked in Key West from 10 AM to 6 PM. I would give my self two hours to meet the captain.

Bahamas, i’ve been dreaming of landing some of those bone fish for quite some time now.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

With that timeframe, Nassau seems like a good choice. I’d agree with BB also, Key Weird is definitely driving distance.

I will start looking into guides for Nassau.

Does anybody know a good guide there and how I can get in touch with them?

fishing is crap in Nassau, if you stopped in Freeport that would be an option (Bonefish Sam is who I have fished with twice in Freeport). You have better guides and water in Keywest. The boats in Keywest are going to be top notch too. The question is what do you want to catch? If you want to be on the flats you need to contact
