I’m going down to the Keys later thi spring and want to try for my first Tarpon OTF. Any suggestions for which guides to take? It seems that there are a ton of guides so I want to make sure I can get a good one.

Can’t give you any personal recs for Key West but can give you some names for Islamorada. Most of the guides I know have probably been booked for the spring tarpon season for a long time but try Craig Brewer, Robert Klein, Greg Poland, Shafter Johnston, Drew Moret. You may need to call Florida Keys Outfitters and get them to line you up. Whoever you go through be sure to tell them you want a fly fishing guide.

I went with Mike Bartlett out of KW a few years ago in May. He put me on Tarpon all day. Went 3/6 with big fish on flies. Great guy, look him up.
Bear Holeman out of key west. Stays booked up but well worth it if you can get him. Fishing with him 4 days coming up, can’t wait!
