Every summer I travel up from Florida and spend a week in Kiawah. I have fished all the little creeks and ponds and had much success with reds/trout/flounder/drum/sheephead…etc. I am going to bring some heavier surf gear this time and try and make the trek to Captain Sam’s Inlet or Stono Inlet (both would be on Kiawah side). I figured I could probably bike or hike to those places. Has anyone heard of anything being caught in those places? Maybe some bull reds, whiting, mackerel, sharks?
Oh it would probably help to know Ill be there mid July!
you can catch alot of sharks in stono inlet with the potential for very large ones. catch the whiting on shrimp. cut the whiting in half and put both halves on same hook for the sharks. stay from the middle of the inlet to the breakers, because further towards the river is a beaching area for boats - not good to be shark fishing there. don’t go in the water as it drops off with strong current. (bull sharks there to)
Yea alot of sharks. I caught these off the surf. Good luck

If I remember correctly, it’s a pretty long hike from the River Course to Stono Inlet. You don’t have to go that far. We’ve fished the surf just past the golf course and had luck with some large black drum just past the breakers.
And as others have said, bonnetheads can be caught just off the beach near the Stono using chunks of blue crab as bait.
