Kiawah River 10/15/06

Took the yak out for the maiden voyage, and boy was it a nice day. I launched from the foot of the bridge at low tide and paddled around to make note of all the structure. I find an area with loads of oysters everywhere built up on pluff mud islands with a deep channel parallel. This looks like a hot spot. I was unable to catch any live bait, so I tie on a DOA shrimp (clear w/glitter red tail) and bump it around on the bottom. I catch about 5 trout before getting hung up. I eventually go through my whole 3 pack and need to try something different. I also had some electric chicken paddletails with red jig heads. I caught 25+ trout on these (thanks willy for the recommendation). Total for the day 30+ trout, all using artificial for the first time! Largest 18in, most 13-15in. There is definately no skunk on this boat.

thats what im talkin about.that boat is a good luck charm.you oughta try my canoe.been fishin out of it for 20+ years.
