Kiawah

Today i fished the Kiawah River with lots of success. I caught three whiting, one bluefish, a huge sting ray, and two bonnetheads one weighing 16 pounds and the other weighing 6 pounds.

tell us about the bonnethead fight. I haven’t caught anything that big in the yak yet, but can imagine you would get pulled a ways before the fish gives up.
Good job!

well luckely i have a pretty heavy anchor so when he started pulling i didnt move any but my rod bent like crazy. He ran for like thirty minutes. So when he surfaced i saw it was a big shark, but i wasnt able to land a shark that big in my kayak so my dad paddled me to shore (i have a two seater kayak). But when i got shore the line popped in about five inches of water and i wasnt about to let him go so i grabbed his tail and ran him ashore. There i measured and weighed him. Then i caught the remainder of the fish in which the other shark and sting ray had to be landed on shore. And that is my story.

Hey Andrew, sorry I missed you last week…I fished above the bridge a couple of times with good success as well,no 3 footers this year, last year I got a bonnethead up there that pulled me and my small anchor about 50 feet before I could turn him around. You guys have a helluva place to fish around there…I love it more everytime I get to come down…this was my 6th I believe. Please check the surf reports for a better account of my week.

Take care,

Tim
