Brother-in-law gave us a call this morning and wanted to fish for about 3 hours before the winds picked up. Deal was he provide the boat and I supply the guides…my youngens! Hit the water and had to hunt the fish down on the slacker side of the river near high tide but my girls only need 30 minutes before they figure out the pattern. Fish were 12"-14.5" and coming up to hit the plastics that were being tossed across oyster humps and points. After catching close to 15 trout in one spot they were eager to get a snapshot. My job was run the trolling motor so that the other 3 were catching fish. 2 triples took place and these fish were kept from basket weaving the lines together thanks to the skill of these girls.
GREAT post
Awesome post! It’s always wonderful to see kids with smiles on their faces because of fishing success!

What I like other than the smiles, is seeing kids that age using spinning reels! Heck, my wife uses closed face reels, when she goes, maybe every 2 years:smiley:
Had my youngest ( in pink ) learn how to cast all by herself that day because she wants to be just like her sister - Top Predator on the food chain. What I have witnessed with both girls is a since of independence once they learn to cast without my help but what seals the deal for them is after they master that then they start catching their own fish after each cast. Priceless! My plan a few years back was to have one girl poling the boat and the other taking “MY” fish off the hook…yeah well they aren’t ready to give up the front deck so that keeps me stuck on dehooking fish and rigging rods for my 2 girls, I love it none the less and wouldn’t change any of it.

Great trip and pics. I love seeing happy kids fishing.
I’m not being a jerk. Just an fyi in case you didn’t know.
I think kids under 16 are required by law to wear a pfd when on a boat in SC.
Wouldn’t want you to get a citation or worse for someone to get hurt.
quote:FYi kids are not required to wear a lifejacket on a boat over 16ft in the state of South Carolina. You are required to have them onboard but they are not required to wear them at anytime. You could have a 2 year old on the boat and they don't need a jacket on. Federal law is different but this is one of the few instances that state law supercedes federal law.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.
Thanks Fritz, Good to know!!!
I stand corrected. Sorry for the misinformation. I didn’t realize there was a boat length stipulation.
