If you just plan on reading, and not copy/pasting lots of quotes, then just buy an Android tablet and use the Kindle app.
I do not like the Kindle Fire since (if I’m not mistaken) you can only get apps for it from Amazon. My android devices will take apps from anywhere.
Android devices tend to be higher performance (for the comparative price) and are definitely more versatile.
