I will bring this up one time what about the king club? I would like to see the club be brought back and started fresh this time. My vision was to have pro type anglers/charter captains give seminars to the club members. Share tactics and have food maybe once a month at our club meetings. The old club met three times and then the club was dead. I would also like to see club tournaments in the future down the road. What do you anglers think am I beating a dead horse or should we try it again fresh?
I thoroughly enjoyed the first meeting last year. Since I’m only down from Charlotte friday late PM to Sunday night or Monday AM 2 weekends/month; it was difficult to be a SUSTAINING member. If revived in 2010 I’ll gladly attend any event on the weekends I’m there. I can throw in a my boat, a 22’ Everglades CC, for those in need of a ride.
thanks for your imput stickman! I will keep you informed on the clubs progress. I hope more anglers will follow and the club to grow. I hope to get the club going again and keep it going in the right direction.
gdaddy, like stickman, I was there for the first meeting and really enjoyed it and appreciate the info you were so willing to share, but living in Columbia it’s hard to commit to showing up for meetings so I’ve been hesitant to reply. I am down there occassionally though and I would definately make a trip down there if you wind up with any little tournaments out of this.
Heck, even if you don’t wind up with enough interest to start up a club, maybe next summer there would be enough interest in just having a “pick up” mini tournament now and then just for fun…maybe $100/boat? We could use this forum, watch the weather and just decide on say Tues or Wed, depending on the weather forecast, to fish that Saturday.

Thanks for the input! I am working on things as far as the club goes to make it run smooth this time with no bumps. I like your idea of the smaller club type tourney tried that last year but it didn’t work out. I will keep ya informed.
Im in if i can ever get back to charleston. I would enjoy sharing info and a ride if anybody needs it.

Ever think that some people just shouldnt be on the water, but hey its funny for the rest of us!
I realize for the established King fisherman the tournies are the draw. For the casual weekender, Friday Captain meetings, getting bait/chum ahead, fishing a defined tourney time are more challenging.
What’s easy is thowing in a boat with a full tank of gas to go Kingfishing on relatively short notice with others who have the interest and experience.
Perhaps the “club” or this message board can serve both functions.
I’ll keep watching and gdaddy thanks for your time.
