I didn’t report, because we all agreed to let this thread die, and keep oue club small, but I have reported by PM to those who couldn’t attend. About 20 showed up, which was good, I’ll close out by saying see you on the 24th. Thanks to everyone…
Where will the next meeting of your new KM club be held. I have only just started reading about it and would like to learn more. I have caught a few KM in the past, they are great to catch and better to eat. My wife, who really loves to fish, thinks they are the best for frying and eating. Please let me know the whats and wheres about your club. Thanks a lot.
First off, Batman, tell me about yourself, experience, type boat, local or out of town? You can PM the info, KM have mercury toxin danger, so don’t eat too many; some say none. On this site they are referred to as “mercury missiles”. Our club is, as you know, for beginner and novice only, so we are very informal, and plan to stay small. Thanks for the interest…

Tidewater please contact macdaddy or jog or myself and we will get you setup we are having a meeting in Mt pleasent next Friday the 24th I believe!!! You can contact either of us via email or PM tommyk1013@yahoo.com thanks hope to meet you next week!!!
I would like to join the club if its not too late. Just purchased a 2007 Key West 225. I live in Bamberg, but have drystacked the boat at Shem Creek Marina.
I have experience angling, mostly off shore, worked as a mate in florida. My son is new to saltwater fishing and I want to get him hooked on it by listening to a king scream a drag.
Would very much like to buddy boat with members. Going to try to sneak out for our maiden voyage saturday 4/18 but not planning on venturing very far given the weather forecast.
mac daddy, I started boating here in Charleston about 15 years ago. My wife fishes with me all the time, she says my job is to get her where she can catch bigger fish than me. We have tried to catch most all of the good eating fish since we started. I now have a new 22’ CC Sea Hunt with a 150 Yamaha, and I am local, West Ashley area. What does PM mean? and do you need to know anything else about us? I am happy to share and learn. Thanks.
PM means personal message, at top of the screen, and is on everyone’s profile also listed at top of page. Correction, PM is private message, which means info is not public on this site. Our club is somewhat private, reason for private messages; right now limited to around 50 members, we’ll see whst happens later. Your info is good, the rest needs to be on private message, just click on my name, that takes you to my profile, click on private message {PM}, and send reply, noone else will see your reply. I’ll explain on the PM…
I cannot receive emails from the site for some reason. I need some people to rsvp to gdaddy if you have not already: They are:Striperskiff, Batman, Deerhunter, Tidewater 20, Cpt. Tom, Dog bruiser, and awscwi94. Please asap, and others who need directions either email or PM gdaddy for that info. Thanks
Last call for this friday’s meeting of King Mackerel club of Charleston; need rsvp, due to buying shrimp for shrimp boil @6:30, followed by seminars, and short meeting…
Had a good meeting Friday, but only 9 showed up out of about 30 who showed interest, so we discussed changing the meeting night; guys you have to really push hard and plan ahead to NOT get sidetracked from the meetings. Weeknight meetings will have too many people on the road, so who knows? We only had 1 new member this month, Mahi Fever; the new club leader is gdaddy; so email or Pm him withquestions or comments. BEST NEWS OF ALL, a keeper king was caught in front of Sullivans sat., I fished 30 miles off yesterday, y73 and commanche, water was 65%, came back in shipping channel, water was 69.5, someone else said 71; dead low tide the channel smelled just like menhaden oil, from all the menhaden being pulled out to the ocean by the unbelievably strong current yesterday. I couldn’t keep my Sabiki rigs down to get any bait…Looks like May 9th or 16th will be the HOT DAYS for the kingsv right now…
Nice meeting you, too Mahi Fever; how was your trip to blue water? Hope to see the Columbia boys at the next meeting, plus some more Charleston locals…Doesn’t seem to be much interest yet, maybe too early, we’ll see…
“The big one’s still swimming, let’s go.”
I thought the meeting went well for the guys that could attend. Maybe as the weather gets warmer the interest in the club will grow as well. As a small club we are hoping to have our first king tournament of the year in May with others to follow fingers crossed with the next meeting also in May. For anglers interested in joining don’t hesitate to PM me with questions.
So what is needed to be in this secret club? I am curious if the objective is to learn, why not let people who know what they are doing be involved. MacDaddy are you just wanting to look like the Pro in this group as to stroke your own ego. It seems like a great idea but it also seems like you guys are going to shoot yourselves in the foot by only allowing novice fisherman. You cant have it both ways…
My idea was to help beginners be better weekend fishermen, not pros, I’m certainly not a pro, just a novice. The lack of interest shows most king fishermen who are beginners don’t want to be serious about king fishing. That’s good, because fishing for fun with a minimal knowledge is still the weekend way for most beginners. We know having it both ways won’t work, that’s the reason it was set up as it was. My involvement was just to get the club started, then I turned it over to more experienced fishermen to teach and run the club, I’m not in any leadership role. Thanks for the post, and tight lines to ya’…
