I was thinking about trying to do some trolling for King Mackerel this weekend if the weather is right. What kind of bait is best live or artifical?
I have the best luck with live pogies on duster rigs or you can buy a box of frozen cigar minnows and troll with them.
I have a bunch of deep diving crank baits but still have the best luck on live bait slow trolled or the cigar minnows which you can pull a lot faster

Kings aren’t picky, but I have really good luck with a naked hoo on a planer or a deep diving plug in mackerel colors. Nothing wrong with a 'hoo rigged on an outrigger with an ilander. Live bait in the right set up can be really, really fun. Trolling allows you cover more water How’s that for non-commital?
