My buddy and I backed his boat in at 8 a.m. and were feeling very uncertain about fishing with how high the tide was. Expected almost a 10’ tide shift so we knew we’d have our work cut out for us. Wind was brutal at times but we found some cover. We worked shore lines that had nice cut outs for fish to seek shelter from the current. To our surprise, we caught fish almost the entire day. All fish caught on artificials, of course my rig was the always trustworthy EyeStrike jig head in pearl, paired with either a Zman Sexy Mullet Minnowz or Zman Swimmin Trout Trick fried chicken. Almost all fish were caught in less than 3’ of water. Ended the day with nearly 16 reds, upwards of 30 trout and a flounder to round out the slam. Biggest red was 30" and largest trout was 21"(swore it was a red when it hit and fought). All fish were released, reds all tagged prior to release.
What general area were you fellas fishing?I was near Bushy yesterday and didn’t start catching until about an before dark.Muddy water and debris everywhere, luckily I was able to get a few large mouths before the trout started up.Otherwise it was a beautiful day and more than enough to fry ,even had a few cold fillets to put in the hot grits this morning.

We were in the Upper Wando. Figured the water would still be clear up there. We could see down around 2-3 ft
Good stuff!! How do you like your Xpress? I have an 2016 H20B and love it. Totally underrated boat, in my opinion.
“…be a man and PM me.”
It’s actually my buddy’s boat. So far it’s proven itself as a pretty decent boat for inshore. He seems to be more than happy with it. I currently fish out of a Pioneer 197 Sportfish.
Bangstick, shoot me a pm. It’s my 2013 h20b, I’ve been upgrading a lot on it, but have some questions for you. I love the boat so far, handles waves well, I can stop get really shallow. Been producing fish, which is the most important part haha.
That smirk from the 30" red’s pic says it all. Nice one fellas. Goes to show, even with huge tides and lots of wind, the right place, right time and right angler can re-stack those odds.
Were you guys beating up the bank with a trolling motor? Been thinking of getting one for the 1720 KW. The value of covering water quietly seems well worth it.
For years, we didn’t have a trolling motor… And it was a lot of soaking baits under docks and bridges. Then I bought and rigged an awesome 16’ jon boat, with a trolling motor and I feel it was a game changer. The ability to work banks, and chase down schools in shallow water, I will never go without again. I just added a 12’ talon, and it’s working great too.

On a Ned rig to boot…nice!
Trolling motors are great all around, even for bottom fishing, sliding up to the dock or spot in stealth mode can help keep from spooking fish as well
Stump, not only on a NED, but at 3/4 or higher tide! Was expecting a trout on the weed line. In other pics, you can see that guy almost completely straightened that tiny hook. The ned rig produced great that day, first time committing time to it

Yeah, we use a trolling motor whether on his boat or on mine. That is one thing that is an absolute game changer when it comes to fishing. I would highly recommend you invest in one and enjoy the benefits.
