Wow, What a great day to be out in our blue water!
Left out of DI Marina at 5am. Kept a close ear to the chatter of one of our local boats taking on water… Glad to hear all is well with that crew, and also nice to hear OSO was on sight to help. Good job fellas.
We headed south in what seemed to be 3 to 4, so the plan to run out at 40 knots was a wash.
Right at daybreak we spotted a HUGE weed mat in 120. We debated whether or not to drop lines… and we did. Pulled a slinger and 40lb gaffer that was really wound up. This fish really did NOT want to get in the boat. Blasting gaff shot after a 25min fight. Continued on…
Fished the parade line around the 380 picking at a few… End the day with 5 in box.
Killer ride home in flat seas. Saw lots of cool sea life that day. Ran with the bottle-nose dolphins, huge sea turtles, and a sun bathing hammerhead. All and all one hell of an experience!
How blessed we are to be able to live and fish in such a fantastic area… Fish on!
