went of murrells inlet on saturday and headed to the belkie bear for kings. our game plan changed a dozen times and finally we decided not to fool around with live bait. we fast trolled large spoons and crystal minnow lures(6-7 inches) between 6-8mph. within 5 minutes of getting the lines in the water we had a double hook up.
ended the day with 6 and we lost 2 right at the boat. all around 8-10 pounds. 1 was caught on a spoon the rest on the crystal minnows. 6 were on the same lure, black and gold. the lure might have to be retired after all that action it looked terrible by the end of the day. saw a few other people hooked up that were using live bait but not sure how they did.
we don’t fish for kings very often so we were pretty pumped with our catch.
