I went out on a friends boat to about 100’ a couple weeks ago. We had a good day and I caught my first kings and now I’m hooked. I want to start going sometimes in my boat which is only a 19’ skiff.
What are the times of year with the best oportunity to catch kings in close…say off the jetties, shipping channel or close in reefs?

You need some one to help out with gas and clean the boat,let me know. Never been king fishing but would like to try.

Would like to know also, I am coming down this weekend and trying to decide whether to fish inshore for reds/sharks or try the shipping channel for kings.
Looks like the reefcast is showing great conditions at this point:question:

I’d put a shrimp under a cork around the docks right now the reds are hitting it hard. You could run the grillage, but it’ll be a parking lot this weekend.
Catching Kings out of MI about 3 miles out. I trolled all around 13miles and nothing. Went in closer and some one brought in a huge King bottom bumping a pin fish at Paradise Reef. Talked to him at the dock, he had 6 nice ones hanging tails out of the coolers.
