Going looking for Kings this weekend out of the little river, any suggestions. Also looking for the honey hole for bait.
I was really hoping that with two days and over 60 different sets of eyes looking at the question above I could have gotten some help. Is the fishing so bad at little river nobody ventures that direction or is the fishing so great that all the spots are super top double secret? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

We put lines in at 70’ headed east out of Dewees Inlet Sunday and kings jumped all over it. Frozen ballyhoo on a pink and white. Caught one quick but were headed out for dolphin so didn’t stick around to see how many we could box.

Go to the Atlantic Ledge about 30 miles out or The Jungle about 18 miles out, fish with dead cigar minnows or ballyhoo and you should fill the box.
MountP thanks for the help. Are you a charter?
kings are in closer,390/390,christinas’ledge and Little river offshore should all produce.

I thought kings should be in pretty close with the water temp up. Besides that only rolling out in a 21cc SeaPro. I’m thinking 30 miles is a stretch. How about any of the closer reefs or wrecks?

Thanks Billy. I know about the little river offshore, but what is 390/390?

Sorry, not a charter. Simply sport. Good luck on the kings.

there doing WELL off the piers…that should help with how far you should go out.
So maybe some slow trolling up and down the coast 40’-50’ deep.
And moving out to the reefs with some live bait.
Does anybody know about bait holes out of the little.
The past two weeks I haven’t been able to keep them off the hook in that area. I caught most of mine in 35’ of water and a few a little closer. Live bait has been hit or miss.

Well here is the bad news! Didn’t do so good this past weekend with the Kings. Water was a little rough for the 20cc Sea Pro to make out to the big pond. Hit on a few trout while looking for spanish in the inlet on Friday morning, but not a great day bay any standards. (Well other that the fact it was on the water and not in an office) Saturday the weather and the ocean wanted us to be there and it was beautiful. Got started late Saturday morning (Thanks Jack Daniels) and missed from what I hear and excellent morning for the spanish. Fished the near shore reef caught a few long nose atlantics; left there and went to the live bottoms between the offshore and near shore looking for more shark. Found a mess of Black Sea Bass, and a few more sharks. Not one King to mention, and we used every trick we could think of. Talked to a lot of boat coming out of the water and the average take on Kings was one or two a boat. Overheard a lot of conversation on the radio and the spot to be might have been shallow at the change waters.
We got out about 8:30 sat and went straight to the 390’s(by the way the 390 is located about 8 miles out of the jetties on a 140 degree heading, sorry, the #'s are in the boat)Always a lot of boats and sat was no exception. No bite early so we went to christinias’ledge and picked up 4 nice spanish(5-6 lbs)and missed that many more.Little river offshore was dead as a hammer,no bait,no birds ,no nothing.Came back in to the 90’s and picked up 2 kings in the 15 lb.range.Bite wasn’t hot by any means but was glad to hear the reels scream.
Off all the places we ran to we didn’t go to the ledge or to the 390/390. We had both of those spots marked and shermans but didn’t make it to either
That will be the next trip for sure!! What were you catching them on?
We were slow trolling dead cigars on top, bite was about mid-day which I thought was a little unusual, normaly do better early morning and mid to late afternoon.but hey,I’ll take em anytime and anywhere.
did you have any skirts pulled over their eyes? and what colors?
I was using the plastic hot pink 3 " squid, kinda similar to a tube bait,I was hoping to pick up some dolfin at christinas,I saw a guy slay the dolfin last year using the pink squid,at the same time I heard blue /white skirts got the most hits Sat.
10-4 heading down again on the 30th. Will head to Christina’s and try a differant approach and see what we can get. We are going to try and link up with Chaos and maybe pick up another trick or two to slay the King’s. A boat load of bulls wouldn’t hurt my feelings either. Thanks for the help everyone and will post back after next trip hopefully with a buttload of pics.
