kitchen cabinets

K, so wife wants new cabinet doors, and refinish framing somehow. My thought was rip the laminate off, sand, then work on real wood cabinet doors. Does anyone know who does this part of it? Any suggestions? Cant figure out how to post the pic of my doors, but they are the cheap laminate particle board stuff.

Cabinet doors can get pricey. Paint grade doors should start around the $100 mark in the Charleston area. There are some place online that you can order doors from but I have never used them. The reviews seem good and they are cheaper than what I’ve found locally.
What are the frames made out of? If they have a laminate on them or its mdf, it will be hard to make them look good once you de-laminate.

Thanks, under the laminate the frame is real wood,so just figured i would sand off the glue and all and stain or paint not sure. I will look into the doors online, thanks.

Custom cabinet doors are made locally in Mt. Pleasant by Joey Meyer.

myhooker; Friend of mine in s-port had same problem . He removed doors and pulled plastic laminate off exposing wood , sanded smooth and then used couple coats of sealer , sanded again then heavy coat of semi gloss , hard to tell from original laminate .

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP,GAVE ME A FEW OPTIONS TO GO ON

Roy’s wood products in Lugoff http://www.royswoodproducts.com/ is very good at making doors to spec and they have a ton of designs. I’ve used them on 3 or 4 projects and have been pleased each time.

Second That! Good group of folks and very reasonable. Give them your measurements and the doors are ready to hang including the hardware.
