Kudos Haddrells Point

I used to be intimidated to go into local tackle shops…not really sure why…I bought cheap stuff from cheaper places and was constantly replacing it with more cheap stuff from cheap places…having gotten to know some of the guys at Haddrells West Ashley I now look forward to each and every trip there…they have fun, they know their stuff and they know how to treat their customers…I kinda feel like Norm when I walk through those double doors…the smell of fiddlers, bulk mono and fiberglass are only outdone by the salt marsh I enjoy being on so much…so thank you guys, thank you for taking care of me, thank you for making me feel at home…
Love,
Bonzo

I concur. I am new to the area and just went in there Wednesday for the first time. I admitted to being a bit of an amateur to novice fisherman, and I was treated very well and given lots of advice and recommendations that were not based on what was most expensive but rather what was best for me and my skill level etc. Will definitely go back…

I feel 100% the same way except for the “love” part-. I used to get sort of itchy going into the hardcore tackle stores. It was like I wasn’t cool enough to be there, even if I was more knowledgeable and/or had more money in my pocket than guy(s) giving me that feeling. The WA HPT is where it’s at for me. Simon, Scott, Seth and Robby know me by name, and they’ve eliminated any self doubt I have walking into such places. No other shops will get my money. Well, unless the aforementioned guys transfer or quit…

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

I feel exactly the same except I have never felt intimidated in local shops. maybe b/c my dad used to own one in GA and i spent my childhood hanging out in there, helping my self to a lure every now and then. Mr darrel and scott at haddrells west ash are great. Every time I am in there they treat me wonderfully and acknowledge me personally. I love going in there. Keep up the great work guys. Ive been a haddrells customer for many years and don’t plan on changing anytime soon. There prices are great and you get service too. My dad used to say(in his store) to customers that complained about things being a few cents cheaper at walmart,“go buy it at wal mart and see if they tell you how, when and where to use it.” Same thing here, at wal mart most don’t know the difference in a jig head and a 85 eagle claw, much less how to work a suspending skitter walk or how to tie a dbl uni knot.

Great shop! I frequent their establishment often.

I love going there. Only problem is I walk in looking for hooks and walk out with $200 worth of other assorted toys every time!

Thanks for your support guys and girls, I work with a great bunch of guys here that truly know their stuff whether it be inshore, offshore fishing or hunting knowledge for all the local species. We do have the best customers!!!

Hahahahahahaha

Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

I think that it is a major breakthrough that Bonzo could admit to being intimidated. I knew Cantore throws him a bit but had no idea about Haddrell’s.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.

Being a Mt. pleasant resident I frequent the original location. They started up when Haddrell’s Point didn’t have a 10 Million dollar house on it, and when Mt. Pleasant was still a village. As a family business it was not unusual to have the owner, his wife, and their sons greet you as you walked in, and thank you with heartfelt gratitude when you walked out. They have employed many over the years that genuinely reflected their values and commitment. I personally enjoy spending money with them, and I am very happy for the success that they have had through the years because they follow what I believe in…“Hard work always pays off”. God Bless America and the small businesses like HPTS that make us great.

Thanks Bonzo and everyone else. The reality is that neither of these 2 businesses are anything without all of yall and your customer support year in and year out. Our employees are almost always smiling bc our customers treat us the same way we strive to treat them…with respect and appreciation. Looking forward to a big 2014, and we will see the vast majority of all of you in the very near future if we have not already! Thanks for keeping me employed, haha!

I agree completely. I live on JI and frequent Haddrells at south windamere and all the guys there are great and have helped me immensely. I work in Mt. P and go to the Haddrells there from time to time with the same results. Its a great store, with good folks, that use and understand the products they sell. Treat yourself and drop by your local shop.

The Abel family and it’s employs are always willing to go the extra mile to please it’s customers. If you have a fishing related question that might require solving by DNR or state government contact Mike Able, he has sat or chaired numerous boards, and knows how to get things done within these organizations. He always has the sportsman in mind. You might not like his answer, but you can bet it will be right. If you want fish catching advice they are the best and it,s free. Let us not forget these folks when the big box BPS comes to town. I for one will always shop at Haddrell’s, they have been getting my money for over 30 years. Tight lines.

when i lived in charleston i didn’t know a sole minus co-workers… i started buying odds and ends at the mtp store and everyone took time to say hi and make me feel like they knew me…

fast forward to a few weeks ago. i walked in same store and it was like i never moved away… they still knew my name my gear and my personal fish goals… they even asked about my personal life/surgery. i had to move away because of a work injury.
