La Romana, Dominican Republic (pics)

I was fortunate enough to go to the DR for spring break to fish. We fished Sunday-Wednesday on the Pipe Layer. Every day, the ride out was a little choppy, but it would settle down in the afternoon. We fished around a dozen or so FADS that the local fisherman had put out.
Overall, it was a great trip with the last day being the best. Thanks to my hosts.
1 black fin
4 blues (2 on the last day)
5 dolphin (4 on the last day with the biggest being about 35 lbs)

Notice his buddy still in the water. They were reunited shortly hereafter.

Nice photos, looks like a great time.

No, we stayed inside of the Casa de Campo Marina in La Romana. It's a 7000 acre resort down there. It's pretty nice. The marina had more sport fishers than I have ever seen. I did see another SC boat down there, My Three sons.

It’s amazing how those fish light up like that. Truly an exciting experience.

Congrats on your good time.

I’m back and I’ve promised to behave this time.

Awesome pictures! Thanks for posting those. Looks like a great spring break.

I envy you, what great photos. I am sure you will be talking about the trip for a long time to come.

Nice looking fish. Looks like some blood in the water. Was it gut hooked?

hey richard its robert strange nice job!

strip…strip…FISH ON!

hey robert. It was either hooked in its gut or gills. We didn’t even try to mess with it. We just cut the leader.

Yea. It happens.

Still, awesome pictures.

Nice…did you fish with Pete?

Thanks greg. No, netgirl, he wasn’t down there when we were. I think he’s flying down this weekend to fish a tournament out of that marina, the Casa de Campo Marina. It’s an awesome boat though. Handled the sloppy seas in the mornings very well.

did anyone see the marlin under the boat as the dolphin is on the hook?

That’s why I like this picture. I got really lucky when I shot this. That dolphin, it’s a little small for a marlin ;), was hooked on a 30ft leader about 30 seconds later.

awsome pics. congratz.

my step dad, mom and family were down there for vacation and chartered “My three sons” a few days while they were down there, heard they had excellent fishing trips and a great time.
