Labor Day Fishing

1st Post!
Went out fishing with my wife on 8/30 in the evening. Wife caught a strange fish that I still cant quite identify. I posted a pic so if you can please let me know what it is.
Went out again labor day in Mt. Pleasant at our usual spot pretty active with the redfish, caught several including my wife’s first:smiley:. Even caught a nasty toadfish! Trying to get them on the pier was the tricky part. They would wiggle off leaving me with just my hook.Very frustrating seeing how I could see the fish below me on my line. Guess next time I will have to invest in a net to extend to 10feet. Overall it was a great day fishing.

I will post more pics. later.

Ahhh, the infamous toadfish. Get used to 'em, and welcome to the site!

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

She has him twisted pretty good but, are we just looking at a ‘whitning’ for picture number 1?

Sorry… ment to say, very nice first post. I think the first fish is a Southern kingfish (or whitning as we always called them).

Congrats to the wife! Yep, that is a whiting. They are very good to eat. If I catch one, it goes in the box.
