Lake Jocassee

Any of you fellow striper fishermen fish Jocassee?? I’m going this weekend and am going to pull bait instead of the downrigger and spoon thing . Just wondering if any of you guys have fished there with some of the same methods we use for the stripes.

To fish Jocassee you gotta get deep. Not too sure live baiting will work, but try and report back…

I did go fishing there yesterday, and right now the fish are actually fairly shallow(20-60 ft.) We caught two fish about 16". That place is beautiful. Most people pull spoons on downriggers. I did the bait thing because I’ve heard that’s how you catch a big one. We got cold and only gave it about five hours and came in to watch the So.Carolina hoops game. I’m definatly gonna try it again on a 60 degree day.

I did not know there were striper in Jocassee. I would think they would decimate the trout population.

I guess I didn’t make myself clear enough. I was fishing for trout. I was curious if any of you guys had ever fished up there for trout with down rods and bait like we do on lake Murray. I did it on Saturday with modest success.
