Lake Jocassee

Family vacation at Lake Jocassee last week. Never fished trout in SC although I’ve been living here for 15 yrs now in CHS. I’m from NC and I always just drove on past to the western NC streams bc that was what I knew. The lake is amazing. We had a house on the lake and towed the boat up. Got dropped off each morning and fished up a different stream every day. Tons of trout on the fly and nobody else fishing. It was a great time. Bumped a lot of deer, got attacked by a hen turkey on her nest, and came across a sow and 4 cubs as well. Awesome time. I tried to get a picture of the sow but they didn’t stick around long and I had to try a quick pic with the cell phone. I would recommend the trip. Very close and very removed from the pressure the NC streams get. Never saw another fly angler the whole time. Elk hair caddis with prince nymph dropper on a 7x killed it.

Dang it. You let the word out. Every time I hear someone say, "I have never been up to that Lake Jocassee place but, I'm heading up there with the family this weekend" I know that the next thing I hear is, WOW/amazing.

Lots of magic up there but, please keep it quiet.
