Lake Marion....

Heading to Lake Marion next weekend looking to do some panfish / bass/ striper buggy whipping. I will be fishing an 8 weight with floating line and a 5 weight with 150 grain sinking line. Any suggestions on flies and structure to look for? Any success stories from fly fishing Santee?

Thanks!

olive wooly buggers would be my first bet for bass and bream…find a clump of cyprus trees and fish the outer edge. for stripers, white clousers, deceivers, EP flies to mimic shad…a friend got a few stripers on Murray to eat on top early in the a.m last week so there might be hope for them…but id imagine they’ll be deep.
if its close enough, id try the upper end where the Santee dumps in for bass etc

Scotty,

What is your “go to” topwater fly for the Stripers?

Thanks for the info!

crease fly or Rainy’s Bubblehead…id imagine a gurgler would knock the stripes off them as well
