A couple friends and I trolled around the dam area and out a little. Bait was popping all over and we were marking fish. It was almost perfect, except for the piles and piles of debris everywhere that we wanted to troll. The wind never picked up. I was hoping it would, and blow the debris out of the area. We ended up with only a short and a couple of lost fish between cleaning the lures off. There’s always next time…

You keep posting pics of those slobs and Santee Cooper will keep dumping debris to keep you from fishing! I hear they are cancelling the permit idea and will just dump yard debris in the lake after checking out your posts. Chasfishn’ is on the watch list! I’ll be fishing the weedline with you Friday night in a bullet proof jacket!
Adam, I’ll give Public Enemy #1 that lure, too.

Man, it was like someone cleared some land (not trees and bushes). There were what looked like 2’ strands of grass and small roots bunches. It was a nightmare trying to troll…

Lynn, Sounds like eel grass that has broken loose and been blown up by the wind and wave action. Eel grass strands can be 6’ long and it is taking off in the system. While it may be an inconvienence, when the wind is blowing in the wrong direction, it is a native submersed plant and a big plus for the over-all fish productivity of the system. Google a picture of eel grass and see if that was what you were seeing. Thanks for keeping us up to date on the fish catching…
