It’s official, I have striperitus ! After a super night early in the week, I itched to go every night, thinking of all those fish waiting to be caught. I cooked a great dinner for the wife all week and played super dad, too. I had to work Saturday morning, and despite the horrible weather and impending cold front , I decided to tought it out. We ended the short night of fishing (3hrs.) with 3 catfish (30#,15#,10#) and 10 stripers (31" and 29" keepers). I had to leave them biting due to having to work this morning . Overall, the fish were smaller, but more plentiful. We had at least another 10-12 strike, clicker, releases as well. Thanks Carlos and Brian for all the help with the rods and catching. Back at it again next Thursday to practice CPR (Catch Photo Release) to help preserve this exciting fishery!!!
Good catches, are you trolling like lynn or using live bait? Thanks for the post and for practicing CPR, this fishery can use every helping hand it can get.
Hey, I release them too! I just release them into an igloo!!
I am glad that there are people practicing catch and release! I know meat eaters like me are not helping the population…

The thing that seems odd to me is that they you are only allowed to keep the best breeding fish. I would think a slot limit would work better. But i am not a biologist, so what do I know. Might be the big ones don’t survive a release.
I don’t know… That’s why I get my limit (sometimes), and then stop. I don’t want to catch anymore and take a chance. I really hate catching those nice 25 1/2" fish that get a little hurt, and then have to throw them back!

I have never heard of any stripers dying due to catch and realease. Especially when you fight them for less then five minutes and they are on they’re way. Thanks got2go for putting me on the fish again. See you tomorrow.

Hey big guy, I was referring to the ones that get stuck and are hurt and bleeding a little. You don’t know what their fate is…
