Got2Go and I trolled around last night with minimal results. We only caught 1 keeper (a fat 29 incher). We threw back several shorts. The keeper was caught out in the lake away from the dam…
When I look back over my fishing log, I can’t help but notice that when I want fish to eat or to put in the freezer, I need to go solo (at least as far as striper goes)…[:0]

Going solo, huh? Who’s going to reel in all those shorts, tangle your lines, and buy breakfast for you? I tell ya’, some people! Give me a call when you know what evening ya’ll can come over.

It’s hard to film all that action and reel in two or three fish at a time when solo…
We always have a great time, and that is what matters…

Lynn,
I have been a “lurking” fan for quite a while. I will be passing through the Charleston area over the holidays and was thinkin of giving the moultrie stripers a go. I have a Sea Pro 21 and grew up on lake moultrie so I am familiar with the area. I have been striper fishing for a few years and have all the gear.
Can you recommend a particular post where you passed on pointers? I probably won’t go smack in the middle of the night, do you prefer to fish right after dark or right before light?
Thanks
Larry

Larry,
I couldn’t find a good “pointer” post, but I can tell you what I do.
Most of my good nights the bite has been late (after 2300). But, you really never know with those pesky striper. They are on one hour and not the next (as, I am sure you know). Pretty much all my fish that I have caught in the last few years have came on my shallowest running lures (same lures, just shorter amount of line let out). I run mainly red headed/white bodied lures(111MR MirrOlures and Stretch 25s and 30s). Lately, they have been hitting anything that I have trolled. My target speed is 2.8mph. There are times when they like it faster, and sometimes they like it when I take it out of gear and slow to around 1mph and then put it back in gear. That will trigger a strike at times. I usually run at least 5 lines at a time. I have ran as much as 8 when it is really slow. If they are hitting consistently at a certain depth, I’ll run 3 or 4 pretty close to the same depth and 1 or 2 a little deeper just in case. Of course, everyone has their own way of doing things. This is just the way I do it based on my experiences…
That is about it. I really can’t claim any skill, I just get lucky her
