Well, I had a blast last night catching them linesiders! I started off trolling, and by the time I got to the dam area, I already had a nice and fat keeper (>28"). That was it as far as any keepers though.
I caught a bunch of shorts and had a couple of doubles. I needed to get home early, and while the rain was kind of at a slack point, I decided to pull in my spread. But before I left, I wanted to throw a bucktail on some small schools that I was marking. I figured that I would give it a couple casts and then go. Well, I caught a short on the first cast and that started the delay, and the clouds unloaded.[:0] I was catching a fish on almost every cast so I did not mind the weather. I was just using a medium rod with an old bass reel, and that was so much fun. I did lose one bucktail to a fish that was fighting pretty good. It must have swallowed the lure and rubbed its little teeth on my braid.
I still havenāt figured that one out. Oh well, I retied and instantly started catching one after the other. At this point, the rain was still coming down pretty hard, so I just had to try and wait for another slack period to head to the hill.
That never happened. I had to make myself quit catching. I had a real good time, even if they were just shorts! I lost count after around 35 or so. Most were around 22"-23". I did catch some shorts that were just over 25", as well as some 19" and 20" shorts. With the cool temp, wind and rain, I didnāt have much competitionā¦
