Lake Moultrie Friday 10-3

I started out live bait fishing. I was able to catch bait no problem, though most of the bait were small. I ended up catching only one 20 pound cat before I started trolling around 0100. Around 0330 I decided to put a Stretch 30 out right behind the motor. Normally, when it is slow, I will run 8 lines by myself. But, I was feeling lazy and only ran five. The 30 was probably running 10 - 15 feet down, and at 0345 I caught my first striper of the season on it. It was between 29" and 30". Man, it is going to be hard getting a limit of 26" or better fish consistently! That was it, nothing else. I did venture out in the lake a bit and noticed that everywhere I shined my spotlight there was bait. That’s probably why the striper are not thick at the dam. I was marking fish, but nothing like I would like to see. Still a little early.
If anyone goes, please post a report.

No luck.. Got to the dam at 6:30a.m. Bait was scarce, till they started pulling water about 8:00.. Saw 1 big splash. We had alot of knock-downs but nothing stuck.

So, you only fished with live bait, no trolling?
