Went striper fishing 3 times in 2 weeks near Shortstay and caught 2 in the 8-10 lb range. Had a few other hook- ups but they got off. Used live bait and trolled Stretch 25’s and 20’s. It pretty much was discouraging. Anybody else having luck on the lakeside of the dam?
I havent heard any striper story’s on that Lake. Sorry to hear about your trips. I would personnally go into the Cooper River and fish the rice fields. I love the Large Mouth fishing in Bushy Park too. I used to live in Goose Creek and I miss the fishing, not the traffic.
I just moved to Goose Creek a few months ago and have only fished for trout, reds, and flounder so far launching on the marsh side of bushy park. I am truly a bass fisherman at heart though. Is the bass fishing decent in the bushy park area, any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

longspur,go up to the east branch at the “t” turn to the right at the “t” go around a few turns and there are a couple of good rice fields where you can catch them.when you go you must calculate 3.5 hours from the low at the harbor.be there an hour before to an hour after.try a rapala 13s or worms.you should tear em up.by the way, start inside the opening of the rice field, then work out on to the banks of the river close by.
I used to fish Bushy Park, freshwater side and did great. Too many people though. Fishing any of the rice field openings worked for me. Mainly on out going tide, fish wait to ambush bait fish coming out of the grass. I used ratlin rouge’s and bubble gum super floater worm by zoom. I did this for years and then got hooked on Reds, flounder, trout. My buddy and I tore um up in yellowhouse / Beresford creek. We casted for them with grubbs. I never anchored and used a cork like most would. The bass fisherman in me wouldnt let me. During Jan. the water real clear, we used graffite rods, spin reals with 6 lb line and caught 30" Reds. That was screaming fun. Using the trolling motor to chase down the line stripping reds. Now thats alot of fun.
