Lake Moultrie Wednesday Night 10-15

First time in a while that the “Miss Amanda” got skunked![:0] I was even pulling 6 lines.I did have a nice striper hit while I was in a turn and the line was not real tight. I fought him briefly until he came out of the water, showed himself, and said haha and good-bye. Man, did that hurt, he looked like a hog. The only other hit that I had was a big cat. When I was fighting the cat, I could feel him rolling up on my line. I got him to within 15’ of the boat. I shined my spot on him and noticed that he was wrapped in my line way past the steel leader. Wasn’t long after that before that terrible feeling of the line giving way set in. I have caught many big cats, and this one was definitely at least 50lbs. Oh well, sometimes it works out that way! I still did not see any bait, just tons of needle fish. I did however, mark more fish than I have lately. I might be going again either tonight or Friday night. Not sure yet. If anyone wants to go, let me know.

No. I am pulling deep diving lures (MirroLures, Stretch 25s & 30s) with treble hooks. I believe that when you are in a sharp turn and the lure is moving slow, they try to wound it first like they would live bait(I have been told this by a few people), causing them to get foul hooked. I have fowl hooked plenty in the turns. You have no choice around the dam, unless you want to crash the wall.:face_with_head_bandage: Some I landed, some I lost right at the boat. That’s fishing though!

Lynn, have you tried switching out the treble hooks on those baits with some sharper Gamakatsu’s, Owners, or VMC’s? It might make a difference with keeping those fish stuck.

Yes, I have been trying different hooks.
