Lake Moultrie Wednesday night 11/07

Had to launch my boat at Canal Lakes Resort and run across the lake to the dam. We ended up with 10 striper and 4 cats. We lost about 7 or 8 during the fight. The fish were stacked thick between 10 and 20 feet down. Might be going tomorrow night.:stuck_out_tongue:

sounds like a good night…were the fish a good size???

What were you using for bait??? I might can go fishing one night soon…canal is the only place to launch…a nice little run…but not bad if wind is not blowing…

were you in front of the dam in deep water?? Trolling???

give some details and when you going again…might meet up with you on the water…

or–we can go together sometime…and share expenses…

SanteeCarl,

We were trolling in front of the dam using the red and white stretch 25’s. We had two doubles. The striper were between 25" and 28". The biggest cat was 30#. I am going tonight. I hope to be fishing by 11:30.

I have had good luck there before…making the circle in front of the dam…by the long wall…across the front of the lock where the light is…and up the shoreline about 150’ before hitting the shallow island…

how many feet of line are you letting out on the stretch 25…

and at what time are you getting the most strikes.???

let me know how you do if you go…

Carl

opps------why do you wait so late to fish??? shouldn’t they be there around 8–8:30 after dark.???

is there a secret???

What shape is the ramp at the Canal in? Any problems getting in or out?

I normally run 4 lines. I put the longest one out around a little more than 100’. I put another out around 80’. My front two I usually put out between 30’ and 50’. These are estimates of course, I adjust them according to what I am seeing on the screen. It seems in my experience that during these months I get most of my action after midnight. I have had success earlier, but mostly late. I probably would start fishing earlier if I were able just because you never know what mood those pesky striper are in from night to night. I did go last night and my friend and I caught more than our limit and let several go. I also had a lure failure. We had a big hit and the tail treble hook and all the hardware came out the lure. I have never had that happen before with the stretch 25’s or any other lure. We had a good night (20 nice filets). Our biggest striper was close to 11 lbs.
