Yup, I was sitting right behind you. I talked to SteelyTom for a little bit and asked him if HE was phishinphan. I recognized him from a picture I’ve seen on here before but couldn’t remember who he was. I’m thinking about this saturday’s tournament. I had a previous committment with the girlfriend but I ran it by her and she wants to fish the tournament now. Here’s a list of the questions I’ve got…
*How do I sign up for it?
*Is it too late?
*Also, how much does it cost per person in the boat?
*Can I use my own boat or do I have to be with a member already in the club?
*How many people are allowed to fish off one boat?
*Are you allowed to have extra people in the boat if they aren’t fishing? (Just along for the ride)
*Is there a more detailed tournament rules/etiquette list other than on the website?

Well, how did you do? lake looked pretty nice last night when I went over the dam.
No luck. Marked PLENTY of fish but none were biting. I’m guessing they didn’t like the frozen herring I was using as bait. I was hoping that I could mark a few spots for the tournament saturday. I marked a couple of spots but never caught anything.

steve do you pull planer boards?if not go to lake world and buy 2 sets.the guy lives in nc that makes them.i will not use any other brand.
Guys, this weather for saturday ISN’T looking good. Not sure if the girlfriend will want to come out. Do they ever decide to cancel tournaments because of bad weather? 17mph winds and 60% chance of thunderstorms OUCH!

I’m going to Lake World today to get some rod holder bases that I need for the bow rail on the boat. I don’t have any planer boards yet. Might have to pick them up today. How much are they a piece? Don’t really know how to use them either. Once I get a pair would someone be willing to show me how to use them on my boat? I’ll supply the boat, equipment, and beer of your choice.

make sure you measure the rail! i made the mistake before. i have a bow rail that takes the 1", but my trolling bar takes the 7/8ths or whatever the other size is.
the planer boards are fairly easy to use once you get the hang of it. they are right and left as sharky says. the metal clip goes on the line and there’s a little spring clip that holds the line to the board. when a fish hits (or you set the hook), the sping clip let’s go so you don’t have to stop realing it in.

I’m picking up the boat after work and towing it up to Lake World to make sure I get the right size base. Then I’m taking it by the Kroger in Irmo (cheapest fuel around @ $1.86) and then to the house to get ready for tomorrow. Got to try to fix the radar while I’m at it so hopefully this rain will slow down or quit. It’s saying “No Bearing Pulse” when I turn it on but will still communicate with the GPS to give me my heading and speed. I think it may be either a connection or a gear issue. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.
