3/18 we searched crystal lake for an hour and found some back in a cove. No hits after an hour so we hit the towers for the night bite. Got two keepers.
3/19 I went out with my wife. She caught one about 18" and we left after fishing less than an hour. Fishing the back of Johns creek.
3/19 I fished morning/afternoon in crystal lake. caught about a dozen short stripers, one keeper, a jack fish and a blue cat. All fish caught on a shallow point in less than 10’ of water. Dooleys only had a few herring and the rest were threadfin. I would have done better if I had some more herring. The threadfin did not live well on the hook.
hey tom; glad you took your wife out. i’ll bet she enjoyed hooking up with a striper. imo it is better to drive over to lake world for your bait. seems to be fresher and last longer. also probably a little cheaper. not too much farther for you.
all jeremy and i caught this weekend were mostly little crappie. anywhere from 4-14" must have thrown back 40 yesterday and this morning. we got ran off by rain about 11 this am. kept 17 yesterday. only had maybe four at3/4 or better. still nice day on the lake.
also; i know this is not the crappie site but live with it. this is for the forum police. LOL LOL
Lake world was sold out by 6:15. I saw on his sign this morning he has “giant herring”. I would have liked to have had some of them.
Whats the deal with the live bait shortage? did i miss something? with some of the reports i have been hearing and the way the crappie have started to get smaller i will be fishin the stripes before the week is out! i got to use one of those “giant herring” last year. pulled that thing for like 3 hrs. the whole time thinking i should pull it in and tie a stringer hook on it…lol…but nooooooooooooo lazy @ss me decided not to do it and guess what. it got the skin stripped off it from right behind the head all the way to its tail…lol…(hint~ i would tie a stinger hook if going to troll with a 10 to 12" herring).
i had also had a ton of throw backs on friday coolbreeze. did manage 4 about 1.5# out of my 20. rest were average fish i guess you would say. around 3/4 or a #.
