Fished from about 6 till 1 AM. Fishing was steady all night. Ended up with 11 shorts and two keepers. Kept one 28"er that will be dinner tonight. Also got a nice large mouth and my first gar of the year. Fish were caught in water from 25’ to 5’ deep. The 28"er was up near the shore in the shallow. Fish caught on planers down lines and free lines. Real nice herring from lake world, big and healthy.
Nice report. I was out last night also around Spences Island. We got a new boat But I had to wire it for a trolling motor and a make a motor trim tab adjustment. Trip was mainly to run and test out boat, any fishing was a bonus. We got on the water around 930 I read some of your post so I decided to try points and shore line with some plugs, no luck though. I’m new to the striper fishing other than using cut bait and free lining. I did have a half cup of night crawlers and ended up with 8 cats from 1pound to the largest a 10 pounder. All in all a great night on the water. Did you see the fanboat bow fishing? Man that thing was bright and loud.
