OK, the last reports were late so this ones going to be the day of …
Caught up with Striperskiff at the dam ramp at 6:30 and headed out …
First couple of places were slow so we hit the deeper water and fished between 30’ & 60’ …
We broke two off (one right at the boat - my fault), threw back one undersized (20"), and were robbed another half dozen or so times … oh … did I mention that we managed 7 keepers with a total weight of 46 1/2 lbs …
We’re going to head out again this afternoon/evening since tomorrow morning looks like it’s going to be a wash … we’ll see if our luck for the day holds …
pics below say the rest …

PM Report … One word … SUCKED!!! I should have turned around at the ramp when I saw the chaos that was the dam ramp on a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend …
Anyway, like an idiot, I pushed on and hit the water despite the ramps rats and the wind chop … marked a few fish … had one break us off after a minute or so … but after the third time the fish finder is lit up steady between 40’-60’ and NOTHING bites we called it and headed back in … mistakenly thinking the ramp rat had all vacated …
On well, all in all still a good day fishin’ …

it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish now!!!

I went wed and thurs and marked nice fish where you guys were fishing but never could get them to bite consistently. I was trolling 25’s though and they were a little deep for me, did manage a 24" and some more shorts on wed evening, nothing thursday morning…great pix.
Rick, nice pics. Love the ones with the rods bent over and the sun rising in the background.
Chip, ever try a trolling weight in line with a stretch? or maybe a stretch 35? I never really used them, but always wondered how far they really get down. I imagine it’s a lot like estimated MPG on a car. There’s probably some very specific set up…trolling a certain speed with a certain diameter line etc…that can get the plug to the advertised depth, but they may not typically get as deep as advertised.
Then again, it may be necessary to get down as deep if we cool off some like it’s suposed to this week.

use a plainer on a line seprate from your rod, tie it off to a cleat
run your line to a rubber band attached to a shower curtain ring. Run the ring down to the depth you mark fish. use alot and it catches fish Poormans downrigger!
Summer Stripers = Easiest fish of the year. JMHO
Great time for the kids to catch a few “keepers”
