Got on the water about 6:15 and found fish at the mouth of the cove we launched at. First line down had a 26" keeper that hit before the rod got in the holder. Caught 5 keepers and one short before it got dark. After dark we only caught one more keeper and some shorts. Most nights this year the keepers came after dark. THe bait had the FF blacked out. Tried shutting the light out for a little bit and couldn’t find any fish. Water was 78-80. Pretty strong Southern wind, a lot stronger than the 2mph in the forecast. Weather man has been way off on winds this year. Also got about a 6lb largemouth suspended in 50’ of water, thought that was odd.
Nice on the keepers. Sucks about the bite after dark. Haven’t heard how striperskiff did Friday night. Did you see if he had any luck? Been itching to get back out with some proper lights, but doesn’t look like I can until next week.
We put in just before dusk. Only took about 15 min to draw up some bait after it turned dark, but we caught mostly short fish. Fished till about 1 am with only 3 keepers and I don’t think any of them were over 22". Marked plenty of fish, but they never really seemed to turn on like they have on other nights recently.
