Lake Murray Info -

Me & my buddies are thinking about a striper trip to Murray.
Since we can no longer fish Santee, we are looking for a new spot to try.
Would appreciate any information on the “night time” striper bite.
Are the stripers biting at night?
If so what particular area? By the dam? Other areas?
Any info is appreciated.

try reading the previous posts. most of the tips given there apply to both day and night fishing.

Something is up with Murray. Lots of people reporting bad catches and floating fish. way to early for both. This time of year anyone with even a little striper experience should easily get a limit. I wonder if the gill magots are not as harmless as the DNR said.

I was kinda wondering if that 7 or 8 straight days of 100 degrees + temperature did it. We were reading 85 degrees lake temp on a couple days out there…thats similar to the usual August kill.

Pioneer 197

good point. i wonder if that does have something to do with it. here’s the results of the MSC tournament.

Winners 4 striped bass weighing 27 lbs 12oz including Big Fish of the tournament, weighing 9 lbs.1 oz.

Second place 19 lbs. 10 ozs.
Third place 18 lbs. 8 ozs.

That’s some pretty small creels for this time of year right? I believe the top two boats are cut bait fishermen as well and they are both from Rock Hill so they were most likely using bigger bait than the 3" to 4" herring we had locally.
