Lake Murray Judy

Boatpoor, what makes that fish look like a river fish? I promise I’m not being a smart behind. I got to thinking after all the discussion and determined, though I have caught some good fish upriver, all my 20+ pound fish on Murray have come in lower Beaverdam, Buffalo, Macedonia, Bear, and the Big Pool. I do know of a 36 caught right above Riverwinds, but that was years ago. The biggest striper I ever encountered on Murray followed a planer I was reeling in to check in Crystal. It hit right at the boat. I saw it, and it had to be over 4 feet long! All I got was a brief look. I was by myself with a full spread and couldn’t turn to follow. She nearly spooled me to the knot before I cranked down the drag and gain back some line. Eventually, the leader gave up. Oh well! Experiences like that keep us coming back for more.

It’s hard to argue data. I just want to know why you feel the way you do.

Just playing with Dan! We have had some experences with people fishing the river! Use to catch great fish in the river in the 80’s but for some reason the don’t run it like they used to back then. There were a lot over 40# taken below Greenwood dam, got pictures some where!

Dan, sure look like a river fish to me!

Caught this one between Bear Creek and Buffalo Creek. I saw Saluda River Resort posted that a 26 pounder was caught somewhere in the river a couple weeks ago. I do know one of our members fished the river and did pretty well pre-fishing on Tuesday but ended up getting skunked on Saturday. River fishing is hit and miss sometimes.
