You getting it mounted, looking at the pavement in the picture it’s not swimming anymore?

Mr.Pirate, would you explain the chip Bragg club and lake Murray Judy. I’m guessing it has something to do with a big a$$ striper, haha, congrats my biggest was a 26lber out of the Cooper river. I’m from Charleston Heights and not familiar with these terms.

Lol not sure how my name always gets drug into some of these posts…lol…but I did get lucky and put a 30# plus fish in the boat while pre-fishing for the DNR open a few weeks ago…

Judy is a name given to a big striper. It’s a slang term that started on Hartwell if I am not mistaken…

And congrats again Daniel!

Nice fish, especially for Murray

After I caught this fish, I loaded the boat on the trailer and headed to weigh in. On the drive to Dreher I looked back at how far I’ve come since I started striper fishing. I remembered Joining Charleston Fishing and reading all the reports and reading all the helpful tips from you guys and yall always pointed me in the right direction when I had a question about something.

My very first striper trip to Murray was in my 17 ft aluminum bass boat that I rigged some rod holders on. I had never seen a blueback herring before and had no clue what it was. I had a 48 qt cooler with an aerator in the bottom and was hearing reports of fish being caught around goat island (it was summer) and I was off to a Saturday after trip.

I stopped by one of those gas stations in Prosperity they had a sign “Live Bait” so I pulled in and asked that Indian fella “Do yall have blueback herring” he said “sure”. I told him I need 5 doz and he filled me right up with “bluebacks”. Put the boat in at Dreher and rode down to goat island and I thought I was in the ocean with all the big boats out there and the wind whipping across the water. Scared the mess out of me to say the least!

Now, after all the valuable information I have gained from you guys I know now that what that Indian fella sold me wasn’t bluebacks, they were shiners! When I caught that fish I thought about that day! Think I may have shed a tear or my eyeballs were sweating one I don’t know? Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share my story with ya and thank all of you guys on here and MSC for helping me out throughout the years! Great group of guys!! Between you and my “mentor” I guess I call him Mr. Bobby Parker I have learned a lot!

Thanks Again, see yall out on the water in May!

Daniel

P.S. Chip, you know you the man! Lol

Thinking back to an earlier post, this indicates what size net one needs to have in the boat. Nicely done.

Yes, I have a huge net I use for tournaments and I have a smaller net I use when I'm fishing for hybrids on Clark Hill. This year I was fishing on Hartwell pre-fishing for the SBC and I caught a fish around 12 pounds and I was trying to net the fish by myself because I was fishing alone. I had my little net and when I was trying to net the fish I knocked the hook out of the fishes mouth because the fish was too long for the net. I dropped this Judy right in the net with my big one.

Did this Judy come on big bait? That’s a beautiful fish USP.

Blueback, I pulled River Herring and Gizzards but it seemed they wanted a snack instead of a steak.

This might be asking too much but downlake from Dreher Island?

I took a boat ride! I caught good fish Friday and I used a ramp down the lake where nobody would see me. All of the guys I fish with know my boat so I put in at a ramp I knew nobody would use and snuck into my hole. That is Koon landing if you recognize it, but I was I good ways from there.
