when in the fall do the stripers start feeding top water? i am very interested in catching one on the fly and heard that is the best time to do it.
if you are just interested in catching one on the fly. go to the river. i have went there the last two evenings and have seen them but haven’t hooked my first one yet OTF. i probably will continue to do so everyday till i get one. with all the water they have been running through the dam they seem to be active. saw a kid catch two on a crank bait sunday evening within 10min of each other and i was only there for 30min. i have been fishing metts landing. o and heard from a source that they caught some last week, i think he said something like 4or 5 18"-20" fish and one 28" fish rather quickly. right off the boat dock.
good to know, i went out with my brother in law in the lake this past saturday night and we caught a few. i would love to catch one by casting at it with a light spinning rod, but one on the fly would really be where its at. are folks still catching striper in the river by the zoo? my bro-in-law said that used to be a great place when the water is low.
quote:maybe, but the fish are probably more up river towards the dam, around the i-20 bridge.
