Saltwater Striper Fishing

Short version:
Fished around dreher using down rods, free lines, and planers. I caught 3 shorts and a large mouth, phishinphan got one short striper.

Long version:
Started off getting out of the house at 4:20. Got the first two miles to the gas station and ran out of gas. Phishinphan picked me up and took me to get gas can and gas. got the the gas station and put gas in. Went to leave and phishinphans battery was dead in his car. Jumped his car and parked it. Left to David Clymers to get bait. Never was their and got kind of lost. Finally looked up his address on blackberry and found it. got their and he was out of bait. Proceeded down to dooleys and bought herring and went up to koon. We finally got on the water at 7:00. I forgot to put the plug in the boat and had to pull it back out and let it drain. While putting it on the trailer the boat had no power.

Took off the cover and realized only one side had the plug wires on. boat fired right back up and ran perfect. Two minutes later lost all power and engine was missing and peaking out at 6mph. Decided to fish where we were and at quitting time we cruised back at 6mph. Phishinphan backed the trailer in and all the bunks on the trailer floated right off the trailer at the back. Gouged the the bottom of the boat on a metal bunk post. Tied all the bunks down with wire and called it a day.

it’s the curse of SHAKEY for buying another boat.sorry you had uch bad luck on your first trip out in the new boat.well now atleast you got everything out the way.

The boat is not named and I said I wanted to take it out a few times to come up with a name. I joked and said “i hope shakey II doesn’t fit”. But it looks like it does. Looking like water in the fuel. There was water laying on top of the tank. I dried it off and removed the plate for the sending unit. The plate was disintegrated where all the wires where connected. I think it was letting water in the tank. I am going to suck out the water from the bottom of the tank, drain the carb bowels, add some gas dry and put on a Racor seperator. Hopefully that will do it. i wanted to dump the gas before I ran it but dumping 60 gallons is not that easy. Plus I heard you can just suck the water off the bottom since it all will settle at the back, bottom of the tank with the bow in the air. Fingers are crossed
