That’s a lot of water that has to go SOMEWHERE, before it reaches to ocean.
Thank for posting these pictures! That’s an giant amount of water moving. I’m sure the upper end is muddy and will be for a while!
Thank goodness Mr.Murray was a bright enough engineer to design and include a working spillway! Look at what happened to numerous smaller dams this week

The dam of Lake Dogwood (it is also known as Murray Pond) on highway 601 north of Eastover was his design test dam. He built it first to see if his design would work on a larger scale. The dam failed this week and has washed out half of hwy. 601 in that area. Fortunately his larger scale creation is more actively managed.

I hear you, Rick. Must be a tournament coming up!
Unfortunately I wasn’t fishing. Just pressure washing 1/4" of mud off my dock/gazebo floor after the high lake levels. Glad I did, too. That stuff was starting to dry and take hold.
Honestly, I would NOT want to be in a boat right now. I saw all kinds of debris lurking just below the surface. To anyone bold enough: GOOD LUCK! Install your bad prop…
Sorry to hijack this cool thread.

I went a 2 weeks ago and they were schooling near the lower dam. Caught about 15 in 3 days of fishing. 13 out of the 15 were hybrids and nothing was very big but it was fun catching them on top.
There are birds on Murray now. Not a bunch, but it is good to see them coming back.
