I am going to Murray this weekend to recreate and maybe chase a striper. Doesn’t anybody have any local info to help me hook up this info? locations, technique, etc. thanks!
Look for shallow points on the wind blown side of the lake. I’ve been getting most fish in less than 10’ of water and out on planers in probably 2’. Fish are mostly hitting freelines and planer boards. I had some hits on downrods that were set 6’ to 8’ deep. What days are you planning on fishing. I am going to be out tomorrow night.
SteelyTom,
I am going out tomorrow evening for the first time in a year. I am just taking my two young sons and we will troll some shallow divers on points and then I’ll pull some umbrella rigs. I won’t have time to mess with live bait and we aren’t really hardcore striper men just yet. We have always had decent luck though. What channel and area will you be in? I will give you a shout on the radio. Boat name is 'Dirty Money"

I don’t have a radio, but I will be in the lower pool either in jakes or Ballentine. I am in a wellcraft V20 dual console. I have an old merc 175 so you can hear me for a couple miles. might even try the towers after dark if nothing is hitting on the points.
Steely, you fished any up/mid lake? I

yes, i fished mid lake all winter until the last 3 trips. I was catching all shorts. Been doing good down lake. I know the general rule is that the fish are up lake until summer, but that’s not the way I see it. I mostly fish evenings and nights, so maybe that’s the difference.
Rick,
Fish are not out in the deep water. the shallows are warming quick and that is where the fish are. i can almost guarantee you will not catch anything pulling lures in deeper water. You would be better off with a bucket of shiners if you don’t want to mess with herring. Or maybe even casting lures up onto the shore or shallow points. Seems like the shallower the better, even 2’ of water.
Thanks
I will pull some small lipped yozuris in shallow.
I will look for you.
I am in a 23ft CC with twin suzukis, an older sea ray.

If you get bored, throw a rattle-trap at the mouth of coves. We got all shorts about three weeks ago, but some action is better than none!!! Especially in boat wakes. About 1/2 our fish came in the wake of our boat, or one passing us!!
any good reports from the weekend?
