Lake Murray Stripers 2008

Just curious to see how other people have done this past year. I’ve been fishing the lake, on and off, for over 20 years and this has been the worst year I have ever had as far as keeper size fish go.

On a positive note, I did hear (2nd hand) that Richard at LW weighed in a 30 lb’er recently.

I have only been here for four years, but I did very good up until the fish kill at the end of summer 07. I have not caught more than three keepers in one day since. Before then it was pretty easy for me to get a limit (except in the winter, I never did figure that out)

been fishing murray since i was 15.like everyone else this a bad year for keeper fish for me also.catching shorts hasn’t been the problem.the dang catfish has even avoided me so for this year.i hope to see some good reports soon.i thought about going back to crappie fishing.

this was the first year in about 6 or 7 i went back for the stripers, and i am not gonna lie, i though i did pretty well. finished the year with i would say at least 40-50 keepers, one being 18.5lbs. i plan to spend even more time on the lake this year so hopefully will do better. and believe it or not my best months were july and august when almost every trip produced 3 or 4 21"+ fish. but i think i fish deeper than most. i pray they turn on soon. rain probably gonna muddy up the water pretty good up river so crawppie not crappie will be out of the question, probably will be down midlake on friday, will let you know the turnout. tight lines to all “we hope” this year

Murrymaker, you know they raised the size limit to 21" a couple years ago, lol. Sounds like you have done better than most. I am going to have to look at the tracking device I put on your boat the night you rescued us.
