Lake Murray , Sunday AM

First Mate and I went out of Jake’s at 7:30 am… bait showing on the screen just as soon as we left the dock… cruised into the head wind toward the towers and started a “fast” drift near the Irmo park and along face of the dam … picked up a 27 incher and a 14 incher on first drift, then started again… caught another “baby” then nothing for about an hour and a half… drifted between the towers and the dam and picked up two more “keepers” about half way to the Lexington park… used two lines out the back with 1/2 ounce wgt and two lines with 6oz from midships… took fish on both set ups… about 30 to 40 ft deep…had enough for dinner and the wind was getting to me, so we went in about 11 am… still , a very nice morning !! see, I don’t mind giving info to my fellow fishheads !!

I had a pretty good day (well for me anyway) at the entrance to bear creek. Lots of stripers @ 30 feet in 65 feet deep. Caught 5 between 7:00 - 9:00, largest was a 32 inch on a free line!

I don’t get it, I use all the same stuff and techniques that everyone else uses and I get nada. What kind of beer are you guys drinking? Maybe that’s it.

Imcleod… coffee has to be Folgers, boat has to be white, you must put hooks on your lines, etc… really though, it took me almost a season to figure it out… like you, I was doing everything like the “old hands” say… try hooking the baits through the nose… in real windy conditions try a little more weight… the more straight up and down your lines are, the better to judge how deep they are running…in a calm cove, try no weight and a float and slow troll with a trolling motor on slowest setting… whatever you do though, DON’T GIVE UP !!! we’ll probably go again this weekend, yell at me on the radio if you want… Mangowillie ( Capt. Thanks Gary, what channel? I may be on the lake this weekend, my son will be home from college and my dad loves to fish with him, dad is 84 and a bream & crappie fisherman and my son is a bream and bass fisherman, so we will probably be pounding the banks. Maybe we can get together later…

I monitor 16, call me on that and then we’ll switch to something else… good luck !!
