Man I hate to be a buzzkill, but I fished Murray the weekend before last really hard and did’nt get so much as a strike. I’m certainly not as good as some of the Midlands striper club guys, but I normally catch fish. It is the winter which is usually a tad more difficult. I’m really wondering if this past summer’s fish kill is gonna bring crappy fishing for the foreseeable future. Word is that there were four dumpsters filled with stripers. Some people estimate that that many or more sank to the bottom. Unless I hear some favorable reports soon, i’m gonna focus on Clarkes-Hill. I live in Charlotte so I may start fishing Lake Hickory and Rhodehiss as well. I think everyone that fishes Murray needs to release as many fish as possible for the next few years. Maybe tourneys can reduce their limits or go to catch and release!!!
I haven’t been posting about Murray because I caught so much crap for it last year. I told what was hitting and were…and that ticked a few folks off so I haven’t reposted this year, but since ya’ll sounded like you needed some encourageing words I feel the need. I’ve only been a few times so far, and yes the fish kill was very bad this past year; however fish are being caught. I live at Jakes and I have talked to some of the Pros getting ready for the FLW Pro Bass Tourney this week and they tell of many nice Stripers being caught while throwing different lures like Spinner Baits. I also have been as I know a few friends who have been and we are catching Striper dragging free lines. I always get my bait from Richard at Lake World but you also have David at Better Bait both who I think would tell you the fish are still hear and doing just fine. I hope DNR will pick it back up on stocking Murray, but for now dont fear the fish are here. As a matter of fact had some for dinner last night. No I dont keep many just a few hear and there for dinner…cuts the food bill and saves money for fishing :). Anyhow hope to see you fellas back on the water soon. God Bless the Dawgs
Is it any wonder Jesus choose Fisherman for his disciples?
