Lake Murray

Hey yall im hittin Murray for the first time in a couple years with a friend this Thursday. Is there still alot left or have alot died from high water temp?
Were gettin out there pretty early I think were leavin at 4am anyone got any good reports?

lake murray doesn’t have the kill rate a lot of lakes around the midlands have. you’ll have to get deep for them tho. look for the other boats, thursdays are popular. find the boats, find the fish.

usually.

I don’t think there has been a die off since 2005. Fish are deep, in the big pool. Mostly from spence to the towers. Just read down through the reports.

been doing pretty good at night finding fish around the edge ofl the channel fishing down rods around 70 to 90 ft with herring out in the big water about midway between towers and islands.

I’ll be out there tonight, going to just troll though I think. I think I am going to take some Berkeley Gulp and cut them up and place on the bucktails or parachutes we troll for a scent trail. worth a shot.

interesting idea. you could also get some fresh herring and cut up for the same (but natural) concept.

I was about to say less messy, but those gulps smell pretty strong also! I am excited about this weekend cause we are going to fish North Inlet and I am taking a few packs of the 4" shrimp…been hearing rave reviews about them on redfish, flounder, and other inshore species. Going to take some mud minnows also just in case, though.

Just hope I have something to post. The good thing about fishing down there is you are going to get some action, even if it is rays, little sharks, and the toadfish. All of which are oh so fun to handle.

oh, and we canceled this afternoon’s striper fishing due to the 110 degree heat. pansy, I know.
